GUIDE TO THE FARMERS’ MARKETS IN AND AROUND MILWAUKEE

1

As much as we love the Milwaukee Winter Market at The Table (5305 W. Capitol Dr.), we’re excited that Farmers Market Season is almost here! The weather is finally getting warmer, and with the warm weather, comes the excitement of farmers’ markets season. Shopping at the Milwaukee-area farmers markets has always been a wonderful community experience, where you can meet your neighbors, friends, and farmers, and where more of your dollar will stay in the community when you support local farmers and makers.

Milwaukee Area Farmers and Makers Markets in 2024

Farmers markets are an essential time to support local small businesses, which is more important than ever! It’s been a really hard year for everyone and your local farmers, makers and market managers are working hard to make the experience as pleasant as possible for shoppers and vendors alike.

Though some things will still look a little different, you will still be able to purchase fresher, more local produce and product while supporting your local farmers and small businesses. If you want to limit your contact this summer, the farmers’ markets will be a good place to shop as buying directly from farmers/vendors at open-air farmers’ markets eliminates the extra point of contacts that you may find in a grocery store.

Take note: An increasing number of farmers markets across Milwaukee County accept federal nutrition benefits (i.e.: SNAP, WIC + Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers). The Milwaukee Farmers Market Coalition, facilitated by Fondy Food Center, publishes an annual list of markets that accept benefits.
