Free Weekends for Kids at Old World Wisconsin

September 3 @ 8:00 am - September 25 @ 5:00 pm

Stretch your fun, and your dollar, as you travel through time and immerse yourself in the world of Wisconsin’s early immigrants through engaging spaces, beautiful scenery, and interactive activities for all ages. Step into the daily lives of the people who called this world home as you help with chores and cooking, try your hand at crafts and trades, and play – yes, even the grown-ups! Your day will be action packed as you craft a leather keychain, help stoke the fire in the blacksmith shop, pick veggies in the gardens, dye and spin wool, roll pie crusts, collect chicken eggs, and try on wooden clogs, race high-wheel bicycles and more. This is where history comes alive!

As you walk between our historic spaces–or hop on our complimentary tram service–the modern world fades away as you travel back through over a century of Wisconsin history. Old World Wisconsin includes 60 beautifully restored historic homes, farms, stores, and workshops that early Wisconsinites walked through every day, all located on 600 acres of picturesque woodlands, prairies, and wetlands of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. Along your journey from the 1840s to the 1910s, costumed staff will help you get hands on with history. You’ll meet furry friends on the farms, enjoy an old-fashioned soda water in the general store, see sparks fly in the blacksmith shop, and so much more!
