As I look out my window on a drizzly Wisconsin spring day, I’m dreaming of fresh strawberries and blueberry crumble to go with my morning coffee. Berry picking season is almost here!
Below are some of our favorite places to pick berries locally. A few things to remember:
Berry picking season generally starts in mid-June, with strawberries available from mid-June into July, and raspberries from mid-July until mid-August.
Timing and availability can vary based on weather and other conditions, so always call the berry farm right before you head out.
Some locations offer both ready-picked and U-Pick berries. Also, most farms listed below grow strawberries, but at least one grows both strawberries and raspberries.
Getting a little messy is part of the fun! If your kids are anything like mine, they’ll probably sample plenty of berries during the picking, so be prepared for some beautifully stained fingers and faces! Don’t forget to wear rain boots or old shoes, and clothes that can get dirty.

Any organic berry patches around?
Thanks so much! Does anyone know if any of these grow organic strawberries? I realize I could contact the farms/growers as well but just wondered. Thanks!
Hi there! Good question 🙂 As far as I know, none of these farms are certified organic, though they may employ organic or natural farming methods, and/or be working toward their certification. If you do end up contacting a farm and hear about organic options, please let us know!
Thanks for the great list! Would also love to know which places don’t spray.
