It’s National Coffee Day! 15 Milwaukee Area Coffee Shops to Hit Up

It’s National Coffee Day!

For some of us, EVERY day feels like Coffee Day, but it’s always great to find a new favorite spot to haunt.

Ready to get your caffeine fix? Here are just a few (fifteen to be exact!) local spots to hit up while celebrating this sacred Mama holiday!

Milwaukee Coffee Shops

Mama D’s {Wales and Waukesha} :: You might often see a Mama D’s sticker on the back of a vehicle with a bike rack and for good reason. This spot in Wales has a strong following, especially in the cycling community. It has a kitchy, cozy vibe with amazing drinks and delicious food. Need something to go? Try their location in Waukesha for a more grab and go style experience.

Roots Coffee Bar {Waukesha} :: Family-owned and operated by the same folks as the Oconomowoc location, Roots has a large amount of seating, friendly staff, and a great area to land right in the front window so you can people-watch while you sip your latte. They are even developing an Order Ahead option!

The Steaming Cup {Waukesha} :: While we’re on the subject of downtown Waukesha, The Steaming Cup is a real gem. This place isn’t just about the coffee (which is awesome) or the famous Lavender Chai (which is life-changing), but the FOOD. Milwaukee chef Jason Tofte doesn’t mess around with food, so you know if he’s behind a coffee shop, the menu is going to be fabulous. Live music on the weekends too!

Cafe de Arts {Waukesha} :: An in-house roastery with personality to spare! The owners are lovely people who are so passionate for their customers and their work. Definitely try one of the hot panini sandwiches with your coffee and book one of the party rooms for an upcoming event. They also have a shop with build-your-own gift boxes.

Stone Creek Coffee {Various Locations} :: Stone Creek cafes are all over the greater Milwaukee area, but a favorite of our team is the location in the Radio Milwaukee headquarters. Looking for a more quiet space to really dial in and get some work done without distraction? Head to the Shorewood location on Oakland. It’s small enough that there’s very little talking!

Colectivo Coffee {Various Locations} :: No Milwaukee coffee shop list would be complete without Colectivo Coffee. You’re never too far away from your nearest cafe and you can fine their signature coffees being served in retail shops all over the city. And of course, we already know their Baked Oatmeal is famous. Looking to make a copycat version at home? We have the recipe

Coffeeville Co. {Jackson} :: A new cafe in a historic log cabin featuring a roasting viewing room. Coffeeville roasts its own beans, giving the coffee a fresh taste. Cozy, decor makes the cafe feel homey and warm, and coffee machinery throughout the space provides a story of the history of coffee. Delish coffee drinks, pastries, and sandwiches. Super convenient drive-thru or online ordering, if you’re in a hurry.

Fiddleheads {Cedarburg} :: Right in the heart of historic Cedarburg, this place just oozes charm. You can even rent out the upper level for meetings.

Kickapoo Coffee Cafe {Third Ward} :: You have to experience this location to believe it. Right in the heart of the Third Ward near MIAD, this beautiful cafe has a wall of windows that allows natural light to shine in on this beautiful space. And Kickapoo Coffee is roasted locally, 100% solar powered, and features beans with flavors that will knock your socks off. Try a pour-over here. You won’t be sorry. And the mugs are ADORABLE.

Sherman Perk {Sherman Park} :: Easily one of the more unique, fun coffee shops in the Milwaukee area that is a must-try! It’s an old repurposed gas station and it’s super funky inside. The coffee is great and it’s got an awesome neighborhood vibe going on with a super-friendly staff and a community ambiance.

Pleasant Kafe {East Side} :: Grab a window seat at this cafe on the corner of Pleasant and Jackson and enjoy a cup of smooth Valentino coffee. The baristas are incredibly friendly, they play great music and they’ve an interesting selection of food too! Also? WINE BAR. Yup.

Valentine Coffee Co. {Wauwatosa} :: This place is worth the wait. The must-try here is the Vanilla Bean Latte and the tasting room here is gorgeous. Valentine is another spot with a variety of coffee varieties that are perfect for pour-overs, so definitely splurge for it here and watch the expert baristas do their thing.

Anodyne Coffee Roastery {Walker’s Point} :: Yes, there are many places where you can get Anodyne Coffee, but this location stands out above the rest for our team, and for good reason! The space is gorgeous, and they have live music regularly, including Fox & Branch for the kiddos. Plus, our kiddos love their vanilla steamers (whole milk with vanilla in it).

Anodyne Coffee Roasters

Milwaukee Street Coffee Traders {Delafield} :: Heading out toward Lake Country? Don’t miss a stop here for comfy chairs and old library tables with lots of space, outdoor tables, a library like atmosphere. There is a separate room for work & a country-living type room with board games.

2984 On Main {East Troy} :: Looking for a hidden gem that’s a bit off the beaten path? Find 2984 On Main in the Square Roots building and you’ve got it! It’s about 10 minutes from Elegant Farmer, a Milwaukee Fall Favorite. Amazing drinks and bakery, a kitchen with daily specials, and coolers and freezers for locally grown organic produce, meats, eggs, milk, etc. They also have a gift section with handmade soaps, cleaning products, etc. There are board games, books, magazines, etc to enjoy while you’re there.

Hawthorne Coffee Roasters {Milwaukee} :: Frequently seen paired with a donut or in the hand of a Farmer’s Market shopper, Hawthorne Coffee is a Milwaukee staple. While they are primarily a craft, wholesale roaster, they have a new location on S. Howell Ave that we are dying to check out!

{Disclaimer…these are just a few of our favorite locations and not an exhaustive Milwaukee area list, but we would LOVE to hear your favorite coffee shops from around the 414 (and 262)! Fill us in in the comments!}
