Self-Care: Don’t Forget to Love Yourself

0

As a busy mom, do you forget to take time to love yourself?

We are busy making sure the kids, house, and even our partners are cared for and loved. With so much on our minds, we neglect ourselves. This year I promised myself that I wouldn’t forget to love myself. Here is a list of some small but easy-to-do self-care things that I have been doing at home.

  1. DIY facial

Now I have no idea how to really do a spa facial, but I do what I like at home that makes my face feel good when I’m done, and isn’t feeling good the whole point of taking time to love yourself? I invested in a couple of items that make a big difference on my skin, and it’s relaxing at the same time.

A Face Steamer. I ordered mine off Amazon. It helps open those pores up and makes me feel like I did that one time I actually went to the spa.

A Skin Scrubber. I also ordered this off Amazon, and I use it right after I steam. It uses high-frequency vibration to remove blackheads and dead skin. I never knew how badly I needed it until after I used it.

2. Journaling

I invested in some cute pens and found some nice journals that help me come up with things to write about. There are many journals that focus on moms or women, and those are the ones I went with. Find one that has pages that prompt what to write about, or if you are more of a free writer, the blank ones work too. I take time a few nights a week to reflect on my day and write my thoughts.

3. Bubble bath

I don’t know about any of you, but it has been hard enough to take a shower alone, let alone a bubble bath. But let me tell you, this has been one of my favorite self loves so far. I usually make sure the kids are occupied or do it when everyone has finally fallen asleep. It has been very soothing on my muscles from a long day of work and parenting.

4. Yoga/Working out

Most people will tell you that exercise is a great way to love yourself. This has been the hardest self-care regimen for me so far. Undoubtedly, this is the one that requires the most effort and time. I recently bought a new yoga mat and workout clothes to help motivate me. I usually go on YouTube and find a low-key workout. As far as yoga, Yoga with Adrienne has been my go-to. Even though this is the hardest for me, it is also the most rewarding.

No matter how you choose to participate in self-care, make sure you do take the time to love yourself.

I would love to hear some of your favorite self-love routines that you do.
