Mummy and Me :: Elm Grove Art {RECAP}

I’ve never been a Craft Mom.

Paint, glue, glitter, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, felt — just, no. It’s not my gift.

MKEMomsBlog1027-74Thankfully, there are many moms that received a heaping serving of this gifting in their genes and I am so grateful for them because it is precisely those kind of moms who are behind one of my favorite local businesses, Elm Grove Art.

This art studio is run by two moms who wanted to embrace their love of arts and crafts, but in a way that allowed them to savor and enjoy their families while helping other moms to do the same. Their heart behind this studio is so similar to the heart behind MKE Moms Blog that I knew from the first time I spoke with co-owner, Katy, that we would have a wonderful partnership.

In the days leading up to Halloween, we had a group of “mummies” bring their little “ghouls” to Elm Grove Art for a very spooktacular paint project that everyone enjoyed! Our friend Sara of Freckled Fox Photography came along and her daughter got to embrace her inner artist while Mama snapped away.

Katy made our guests feel welcome right away with a spread of warm apple cider, caramels, and coffee. Just the treat we needed before we got down to some tricks! Our little artists put on their smocks and got right to work, following Miss Katy’s instructions as she showed us how to paint a goofy mummy and a smiley spider.

While Katy took care of adding the ribbons to our masterpieces, all our guests went into the next room of the studio, which was perfect for enjoying our Halloween treats from Sweet Tooth bakery! This new bakery in Elm Grove is probably one of the CUTEST little storefronts I have ever seen, where floral plates hung on the windows and coffee-clutchers enjoyed good conversation under sparkly chandeliers. I can’t wait to come back here for a coffee date with a girlfriend!

Sweet Tooth is run by a couple of mompreneurs who believe in homemade, freshly-baked treats that look as good as they taste. The cupcakes and bars they created for our event were no exception. They were truly works of art that tasted incredible. Look at those spider webs!

The bars had potato chips on them, people. Potato chips. Mercy.

In addition to their phenomenal bakery that provides everything from cupcakes and brownies to multi-tiered wedding cakes, Sweet Tooth would love to welcome you to their beautiful Watertown Plank Rd café to enjoy a fresh baked quiche or a lavender chai latte.

Once we were well-sugared, it was time to collect our finished masterpieces. Look at these cuties!

Elm Grove Art hosts everything from Superhero Paint Parties to Couples Date Nights. They can even help you and your friends create that Pinterest project you’re too intimidated to try! We are so thankful to them for hosting this Mummy and Me event and to Sweet Tooth for causing our blood sugar to spike.

Be sure to get your ticket the next time we have an event at Elm Grove Art because we can’t wait to go back!

If you’re looking for a photographer who will take fantastic photos, but might also become your BFF, Sara is definitely your gal!

P.S. My craft came out looking pretty on point, if I do say so myself. Maybe I could be a Craft Mom after all.
