DINOSAUR DISCOVERY – Summer 2024

The Milwaukee County Zoo invites you to step back in time and encounter some of the most formidable predators from the past at the Dinosaur Discovery exhibit.

Sponsored by Sendik’s Food Market, this outdoor exhibit located behind the Small Mammals Building features full-size, scientifically accurate animatronic dinosaurs that move, breathe, and even spit, offering a unique opportunity to touch and feel what these ancient creatures were like. Learn about the crucial role predators played in the ecosystem and find inspiration to help conserve their modern-day counterparts.

SPECIAL ROAR & EXPLORE DAYS

Enhance your Dinosaur Discovery experience by attending one of the special Roar & Explore days on May 18, June 1, June 8, July 13, August 10, September 14, and October 5. These days feature unique, hands-on STEM and sensory activities for guests, and the first 50 families on May 18, June 1, July 13, and August 10 will receive a $20 gift card to Sendik’s Food Market.

MILWAUKEE PUBLIC MUSEUM

  • 800 West Wells St, Milwaukee

One of the most popular exhibits at Milwaukee Public Museum is located on the first floor and features a variety of educational and entertaining elements for dinosaur lovers. The Third Planet welcomes visitors with a film about plate tectonics, a reconstruction of Wisconsin’s geological past, and the famous dinosaur diorama that depicts a T-Rex snacking on a Triceratops! 


DINOSAUR DISCOVERY MUSEUM 

  • Tues – Sun, Noon – 5 pm; Closed Mondays & holidays
  • Admission to the Dinosaur Discovery Museum is free. Donations are accepted at the door. Suggested donation is $5.

For the devoted dino lover and kids of all ages, a little road trip to Kenosha will be well worth the travel to Kenosha. The Dinosaur Discovery Museum is the only museums to focus on the link between meat-eating dinosaurs and birds, one of the most complete known fossil records. Walking through the timeline of evolutionary history, you will see how species have progressed to the animals we see around us every day. Our tour groups dive even deeper with expert hosts as your guide. Don’t miss the Little Clint exhibit on the main floor, a permanent exhibit that tells the story of a 3 year old Tyrannosaurus rex that was excavated in southeast Montana by the Carthage Institute of Paleontology and follows his journey to The Dinosaur Discovery Museum. This interactive exhibit includes puzzles, activities, and a dinosaur dig appropriate for children ages 3-10 with adult supervision.
