As spring has slowly arrived, we are all eager to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and sweetness of berry season! Start dreaming of recipes, because berry picking season is almost here!

Below are some of our favorite places to pick berries locally. A few things to remember:

• Berry picking season generally starts in early-June, with strawberries available from early-June into July, and raspberries from mid-July until mid-August.
• Timing and availability can vary based on weather and other conditions, so always call the berry farm before you head out.
• Some locations offer both ready-picked and U-Pick berries. Most farms listed below grow strawberries, but at least one grows both strawberries and raspberries.
• The best time of day to pick berries is in the morning when it’s cool or when the sun is setting. This allows for the berries to be cool and not mushy.
• Getting a little messy is {the best} part of the fun! Sampling is the best part for kiddos, so be prepared for some beautifully stained fingers and faces! Don’t forget rain boots or old shoes, clothes that can get dirty, sunscreen and a sun hat (and wipes probably wouldn’t hurt!)
