A La Carte at the Zoo Returns for Its 40th Anniversary in 2026

One of Milwaukee’s favorite summer traditions is celebrating a major milestone! A La Carte at the Zoo returns to the Milwaukee County Zoo for its 40th anniversary, bringing together live music, delicious local food, family fun, and the chance to explore the Zoo—all in one unforgettable event.

Whether you’re planning a date night, a family outing, or a get-together with friends, here’s everything you need to know before you go.

Event Dates

August 20–23, 2026

During this four-day festival, guests can enjoy performances on six stages, food from more than 30 Milwaukee-area restaurants, special anniversary activities, and, of course, visits with the Zoo’s amazing animals.

New This Year: Kids’ Day

Families won’t want to miss the first-ever Kids’ Day on Thursday, August 20.

The day will feature a performance by the family-friendly hip-hop group Kid Boogie Down, plus half-price Zoo admission for children ages 3–12 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. when tickets are purchased in person at the admissions booth. Children ages 2 and under are always admitted free.

It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy the Zoo, live entertainment, and plenty of family fun while saving on admission.

Celebrating 40 Years

To mark the festival’s 40th anniversary, guests can look forward to special touches throughout the weekend, including:

Food & Drinks

Come hungry! More than 30 local Milwaukee restaurants will be serving up everything from festival favorites to local specialties.

Please note that food and beverage vendors are cashless and accept credit or debit cards only. If you need one, cash can be converted into a prepaid card at the Zoo Administration Office.

Cash, credit cards, and debit cards are all accepted for Zoo admission, parking, merchandise, rides, and attractions.

Know Before You Go

  • All concerts are included with Zoo admission.
  • Parking, rides, attractions, and food are available for an additional cost.
  • Zoological Society memberships are valid during A La Carte at the Zoo.
  • The Aviary closes daily at 3:30 p.m.
  • All other animal buildings remain open and close one hour before the festival ends each evening.
