Imagine for a moment that we have spent the last six and a half years getting to know one another. We have sipped warm beverages in coffee shops, stayed up way too late with trashy television playing on Netflix, attended events armed with baby wipes and hand sanitizer, jumped up and down and squealed with delight when someone we love has gotten exciting news, and held one another up in support when the world got too heavy. After everything we’ve been through together, I figured it was only fitting that I take a little time to sit down with you one last time and let you know that it’s time for me to go.
We’ve been through a lot together, haven’t we? Those first couple years were a little awkward as we learned about one another and you became more and more familiar with what we had in common. Remember that time we packed two entire movie theaters for a screening of Bad Moms Christmas and there were pole dancers? Or what about the time the ticketing system for Cookies with Santa went awry and I found myself crying into my wine and begging you to forgive me? Who could forget all the new friends we have made, the babies we’ve seen be born and the families we’ve seen grow.
There’s also been some really hard stuff like a global pandemic and tragedies that strike in our own backyard. There’s been hurts and disappointments and unmet expectations. Like any friendship, we did our best and tried to lean in through the tough times.
When MkeMom first launched in 2015, then as MKE Moms Blog, the goal was to create an online platform that fostered a sense of community over the shared experience of parenthood.
I’m leaving knowing there have been so many memories made, relationships established, and stories told. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for allowing me to be even a small part of it. None of this would have been possible without the ridiculously talented and generous people who have been a part of this community along the way and all of us owe them so much.
No need to worry, friend. The website and everything you have come to expect and love here at Milwaukee Mom isn’t going anywhere!
You will be in wonderful hands here, don’t you fret. You’ll still get real stories from real local parents, the inside scoop on the happenings around town, a growing library of resources for you on your parenthood journey and so much more. If you’ve enjoyed hanging out here so far, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
As for me, I’m truly grateful to have been a part of this story and I will never forget it. I’m sure I’ll see you around, friend. After all, we’ve gotten to know one another so well by now that it would be a shame to suddenly become strangers.
So here’s where I softly slap the top of my lap and say, “Welp, I s’pose,” stand up, and give you a hug before I head out the door, the way a proper Midwest good-bye should be. See you soon, friend.
With gratitude,
Sarah
