4 MILWAUKEE AREA APPLE ORCHARDS TO VISIT THIS FALL

When fall begins, we all start to crave the flavors of the season, including pumpkin and, of course, all things APPLE! Going apple picking at one of these amazing Milwaukee Apple Orchards can be a wonderful family activity that is both affordable and fun. Many area apple orchards even offer additional features like fresh apple donuts, playgrounds, and more!

Our Favorite Milwaukee Apple Orchards

Barthel Fruit Farm – Mequon

Dates: Opening for the season September 5! Call 262-242-2737 before you head there.

Cost: Varies.

Description: One of my family’s favorites places to pick our own fruit! It’s pretty laid-back, and the fruit never disappoints. The farm offers both pre-picked and pick-your-own apples; varieties include McIntosh, Honey Crisp, and Red and Golden Delicious.


Elegant Farmer – Mukwonago

Dates: September 7 – October 27, 2024, orchard is open weekends only from 10 am – 5 pm.

Cost: Admission and parking are free. Additional cost for other activities varies.

Description: Elegant Farmer features 12 varieties of apples for picking, and its “Apple Pie Baked in a Paper Bag” is so good, it beat Bobby Flay’s fried creation on a previous episode of Throwdown. Look for this famous treat and sample other yummy homemade specialties after you pick your own fruit fresh from the orchard.


Peck & Bushel Organic Fruit Company – Colgate

Dates: Open now. Weekends only – open from 10 am – 4 pm. Call 414-418-0336 for details.

Cost: Varies.

Description: Established in 2010, Peck & Bushel now offers more than 17 organic apple varieties throughout the growing season. You can also find fresh-pressed cider, caramel apples, and other treats at the apple barn.


Basse’s Taste of Country – Colgate

Description: This place will satisfy all ages as there are a plethora of things to do! U-Pick apples during Apple & Sunflower Fest only. Pre-picked available all season. They have 35+ fun fall activities that the entire family can enjoy. Fall decorations and produce are also available.
