The IKEA FAMILY KITE FESTIVAL Returns to Milwaukee for Its 39th Year!
Get ready to look to the skies — one of Milwaukee’s most beloved family traditions is soaring back to the lakefront this Memorial Day weekend! The IKEA FAMILY KITE FESTIVAL… Celebrating America returns for its 39th year on Saturday, May 23rd and Sunday, May 24th at Veterans Park on Milwaukee’s beautiful lakefront.
Hosted by Gift of Wings, this free annual event brings together some of the most talented kite performers in North America for an unforgettable weekend of color, creativity, and family fun.
Festival Hours
📅 Saturday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
📅 Sunday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Families can expect breathtaking kite performances, giant kites dancing over Lake Michigan, candy drops from the sky, bubbles, music, and interactive fun for all ages.

- The Chicago Fire Kite Team celebrating 40 years
- The Windjammers International Kite Team celebrating 44 years
- James Almas flying 3 and 4 kites at the same time

- Mark & Janette Lummas – Fire and Ice
- Connor and Amy Doran
- WOW Pro Style
- The Wind Wolves Kite Team flying giant kites, including the Giant IKEA Kites
- Tom and Kathe Deck with their fabulous bubble machine
- Jeanne Herrera dropping candy from the sky
Kids will also love the exciting Kids Mad Dash happening daily at 2:30 PM!
