If you enjoy public art spaces and spending time outside no matter the weather, I invite you to Go, See, Explore the Lighthouse Art Installation in Cathedral Square Park!
There are eight giant lantern sculptures and sixteen hanging lanterns throughout the park. Each lantern is intricately designed and has changing lights inside for an immersive art experience.
I took my family to see them in February, and we had a great time. My kids wanted a photo by each individual lantern and the whole family was mesmerized by the changing colors during our time there.
The lanterns are a display called “Lightfield” by two artists, Yelena Filipchuk and Serge Beaulieu, collectively known as HYBYCOZO. The installation aims to blend math and art, so it’s for adults and kids of any age to see how to mesh those worlds together.
After we had taken a long look at each lantern throughout the park, the kids played on the newly rebuilt playground, and enjoyed playing the musical instruments and climbing around for a while. Overall, we spent about an hour seeing the Lightfield Art Display and playing in Cathedral Square Park. It was a perfect outing to fill a school night when we needed to get some energy out.
On Display Until May 5, 2023
The lanterns of Lightfield Art Display will be available to see any time between now and May 5, 2023. Go, See and Explore in Cathedral Square Park, and let us know what you think!
