Although it often doesn’t seem that way, eventually winter in Wisconsin does come to an end! Once spring officially hits, we at MKE Mom want to help you make the most of it. Here is our list of more than 80 experiences to enjoy this spring.
Arts and Entertainment:
- Take a trip back in time at Old World Wisconsin. A lot of fun events for 2024!
- Catch a show at the Northern Lights Theater located in Potawatomi Casino.
- See a Concert or a Musical at the Fireside Dinner Theatre.
- Take in a play at your local high school
- Take an art walk on the riverwalk (and see the Bronze Fonz!)
- Snag tickets to the fall Broadway shows at the Marcus Center for Performing Arts.
- Attend the Sixth Annual César E. Chávez Birthday Celebration on March 10th, a free event!
- Prepare for Summerfest headliners to be announced. Though the festival will take place in June 2024, the announcements and pre-sales will begin in Spring.
- See a kid friendly show at First Stage.
- See a play at the Sunset Playhouse. Arrive a 1/2 hour early for select shows to participate in a family-friendly craft.
- Shop many of Milwaukee’s local artists at Art in the Green at the Mitchel Park Domes.
- Plan an adult night at the Milwaukee Public Museum and attend one of their many programs.
- Get inspired at the REALTORS Home and Garden Show–it has over 350 exhibitors and is the nation’s longest-running Home & Garden Show —will return to Wisconsin State Fair Park March 22 – March 30, 204
- Plan an ultimate art weekend with Gallery Night and Day in the Historic Third Ward.
- Take a garden walk or enjoy a class at the The Boerner Botanical Gardens.
Family Fun:
- Sign up for one of the many classes and workshops offered by Little Sprouts Play Café.
- Chase away a rainy day using our indoor activity guide.
- Ride the East Troy Railroad Bunny Train.
- Register your kids for summer camp.
- Get the perfect yo-yo at Art Smart’s Dart Mart & Juggling Emporium.
- Find a Just Between Friends (JBF) Sale near you!
- Head to the Dells or a water park to get a preview of summer.
- Head to the MAM and check out Kohl’s Art Generation Open Studio
- Get out of town for spring break.
- When it showers, have tons of fun, games, and bowling at JB’s on 41.
- Take mom to the Harley Davidson Museum
Food and Drink:
- Go on a Bloody Mary brunch tour in Historic Third Ward.
- Eat outside. (Check here for a list of ideas!)
- Enjoy high tea at the Pfister (kids will enjoy their own “All Grown Up” menu).
- Explore a Beer Garden.
- Eat Peeps or a Cadbury Crème Egg. (No judgment if you steal them from your kids’ Easter baskets)
- Go eat custard!
- Choose from one of the many Milwaukee Food Tours and pig out!
- Visit the Elegant Farmer

- Explore the various pieces of public art with a Public Art Tour via Milwaukee Downtown’s easy trip planning tool.
- Build someone a home with Habitat for Humanity.
- Check out Urban Ecology Center’s many programs for kids and adults. Registration required for most events.
- Check out upcoming serving opportunities at The Guest House or get a group together to collect items for the families at the Ronald McDonald House. Check website for a list of their current needs.
- Participate in the best buddies friendship walk on May 4th. This fun event will be a celebration of the mission to create friendship, leadership, and employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Do some spring cleaning
- Help organize a drive for Hunger Task Force
- Gather your running buddies and get ready for the Brew City 5K, 10K & Half Marathon along Milwaukee’s East Side benefitting the Hunger Task Force
Sports:
- Cheer on the crew on Opening Day! If you’re watching from home, tailgate and play bags!
- See the Milwaukee Bucks play at the Fiserv Forum.
- Cheer on your favorite college team during March Madness!
- Bring your kids to the JS Sports Show
- Go to a Milwaukee Admirals game.
- Cheer on the Brewcity Bruisers, Milwaukee’s roller derby team, in the Roller Derby-Triple-Header.
- Cath a Milwaukee Wave game and sign up for their summer camps!
- Up for a road trip? Head over to Madison to enjoy The Wisconsin Badgers Spring Game and Badger Kids’ Fair!
The Great Outdoors:
- Play outside in the rain and stomp in some puddles.
- Hike at Schlitz Audubon.
- Play with sidewalk chalk.
- Blow bubbles.
- Fly a kite on the lakefront.
- Take your kids to the park.
- See the new baby animals at the zoo.
- Plant flowers.
- Plant a tree for arbor day.
