
Although it often doesn’t seem that way, eventually winter in Wisconsin does come to an end! Once spring officially hits, we at MKE Mom want to help you make the most of it. Here is our list of more than 80 experiences to enjoy this spring.
Arts and Entertainment:
- Take a trip back in time at Old World Wisconsin. Details for the 2021 Season coming soon!
- Take an adventure with NEWwaukee
- Catch a show at the Northern Lights Theater located in Potawatomi Casino.Many shows are currently postponed. Check their website for updates.
- See a Concert or a Musical at the Fireside Dinner Theatre. Now operating at 25% capacity.
- Take in a play at your local high school
- Take an art walk on the riverwalk (and see the Bronze Fonz!)
- Snag tickets to the fall Broadway shows at the Marcus Center for Performing Arts.
- Attend the Third Annual César E. Chávez Birthday Celebration on March 31st, a Free Virtual Event!
- Prepare for Summerfest headliners to be announced. Though the festival will take place in September 2021, the announcements and pre-sales will begin in Spring.
- Watch the Amplify Series, featuring commissioned works from BIPOC playwrights and directors presented by First Stage. These performances will be available on First Stage’s Youtube Channel.
- See a play at the Sunset Playhouse. Arrive a 1/2 hour early for select shows to participate in a family-friendly craft. Currently anticipated to open in April 2021.
- Sign up for a class at Waukesha’s favorite boutique – The Front Porch. Masks Required.
- Shop many of Milwaukee’s local artists at Art in the Green at the Mitchel Park Domes. Art in the Green 2021 will be rescheduled to April of 2022 due to COVID capacity restrictions still in place.
- Plan an adult night at the Milwaukee Public Museum and attend one of their many programs. Tickets and masks required.
- Get inspired at the REALTORS Home and Garden Show–it has over 350 exhibitors and is the nation’s longest-running Home & Garden Show —will return to Wisconsin State Fair Park March 25 – April 3, 2022
- Plan an ultimate art weekend with Gallery Night and Day in the Historic Third Ward. Returning in April 2021!
- Take a garden walk or enjoy a class at the The Boerner Botanical Gardens. No info available for the annual Art in the Gardens Show for 2021.
Family Fun:
- Sign up for one of the many classes and workshops offered by Little Sprouts Play Cafe.
- Chase away a rainy day using our indoor activity guide.
- Ride the East Troy Railroad Bunny Train. Masks and Reservations Required.
- Sign the littles up for swimming lessons.
- Register your kids for summer camp.
- Get the perfect yo-yo at Art Smart’s Dart Mart & Juggling Emporium.
- Find a Just Between Friends (JBF) Sale near you!
- Head to the dells or a water park to get a preview of summer.
- Head to the MAM and check out Kohl’s Art Generation Open Studio Reservations and timed tickets required.
- Get out of town for spring break. Be sure to follow the guidance of local health authorities.
- When it showers, have tons of fun, games, and bowling at JB’s on 41. Due to social distancing requirements, only every other lane will be in use. Call ahead to confirm availability.
- Eat out for a family meal – where kids eat free!
- Take mom to the Harley Davidson Museum—Now open!
Food and Drink:
- Go on a bloody mary brunch tour in Historic Third Ward.
- Eat outside. (Check here for a list of ideas!)
- Enjoy high tea at the Pfister (kids will enjoy their own “All Grown Up” menu).
- Explore Estabrook Park Beer Garden. Opening in Early April. Check their Facebook page for the latest updates.
- Join a CSA. Check them out at the Urban Ecology Center website. No in-person CSA fair this year.
- Eat Peeps or a Cadbury Crème Egg. (No judgment if you steal them from your kids’ Easter baskets)
- Go eat custard!
- Choose from one of the many Milwaukee Food Tours and pig out!
- Visit the Elegant Farmer Details to come on their 75th Anniversary Celebration–May 13-16 2021.
- Attempt the Ninja Warrior Course at StoneFire Pizza on $5 Wednesdays or Double Punch Tuesdays! Reopening 4/14/2021!
#LoveMKE:
- Explore the various pieces of public art with a Public Art Tour via Milwaukee Downtown’s easy trip planning tool.
- Build someone a home with Habitat for Humanity.
- Check out Urban Ecology Center’s many programs for kids and adults. Registration required for most events.
- Check out upcoming serving opportunities at The Guest House or get a group together to collect items for the families at the Ronald McDonald House. Check website for a list of their current needs.
- Participate in the best buddies friendship walk on May 15th. This fun VIRTUAL event will be a celebration of the mission to create friendship, leadership, and employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Do some spring cleaning and help out the community by donating items to local organizations.
- Help organize a drive for Hunger Task Force or Food is Free MKE.
- Gather your running buddies and get ready for the Brew City 5K, 10K & Half Marathon along Milwaukee’s East Side benefitting the Hunger Task Force! Virtual option available!
- Raise funds for the WI Ovarian Cancer Alliance with their virtual Toast to Teal on April 9th.
- Support our troops on May 18, Armed Forces Day, at the Harley-Davidson Museum.
Sports:
- Cheer on the crew on Opening Day! If you’re lucky enough to snag a ticket, please note that there will be no tailgating or congregating in the parking lots allowed.
- If you’re watching from home, tailgate and play bags!
- See the Milwaukee Bucks play at the Fiserv Forum. Check their website for covid protocols, and be sure to pay particular attention to the timed entry requirements.
- Cheer on your favorite college team during march madness!
- Bring your kids to the JS Sports show Postponed until April 2022.
- Go to a Milwaukee Admirals game. 2021 Season Canceled.
- Cheer on the Brewcity Bruisers, Milwaukee’s roller derby team, in the Roller Derby-Triple-Header. No info available for 2021 Season.
